Lark from "Beverly Hills Teens"I have been thinking about starting a blog for a while and today felt right! Crazy, considering I have had an incredibly busy day!
So here is my first thought to be shared. For the past few days on facebook users have changed their profile pictures to a favorite cartoon to "help the fight against child abuse". I joined in and changed my picture but merely for my own amusement. Changing your picture, declaring what color bra you wear, or joining "causes" is nothing but a silly way of making one believe they are doing something. IT IS DOING NOTHING! Joining a cause on a social site does not make you a better person. It does not mean you are doing anything to help it. It is a false believe. At best, it creates a very weak temporary awareness that there is a problem. And worse, it sometimes turns a serious issue into a fad.
Sadly, I cannot say I have ever started a rally, or a petition, or a non-profit organization to change the wrongs in our world. What I can say is that I have sought to do my best to support those who have, having donated time, talents, and resources toward something I believe in. These may be but baby steps, but I think I'm headed in the right direction.
